Day Health Care Centers for Medically Fragile Children.
Pediatric Day Health Care Centers are bright, fun places built especially for children with complex medical needs. We provide a safe, caring environment for children up to age eight to receive skilled nursing care and therapies while playing and interacting with their peers.
Aveanna’s centers are designed to focus on the abilities of the children by providing separate rooms appropriate for each developmental level – infant, non-ambulatory toddlers, ambulatory toddlers, and preschool. Equipped with safe playgrounds and therapy gyms, our centers provide the perfect setting for children to meet developmental goals while improving their medical outcomes.
Caring from the Heart
Our Day Health Care Centers are managed by outstanding pediatric nurses, aides, drivers, and therapists who provide the most compassionate care you will find. Our staff members are dedicated to treating each patient with the same care they would want their own loved ones to receive.
Aveanna Pediatric Day Health Care Center Services
Complex, high-risk pediatric care is our specialty. Through a family-centered care approach, we work closely with physicians, case managers, discharge planners, and families to implement the best plan of treatment for optimum outcomes.
There are several different names for the type of service offered in our Pediatric Day Health Care Centers or PDHCs. The programs vary from state to state but the services are similar. Other names include Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC), Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Center (PPECC), Pediatric Extended Care Center (PECC), or Medical Day Care (MDC).
Many different conditions and diagnoses may qualify children for services at our Day Health Care Centers. Children must have complex medical needs and require skilled nursing interventions during the day. Any child can be referred for evaluation by contacting one of our locations directly.

Depending on the location, our Day Health Care Centers provide developmental therapies, including occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech language pathology. Our pediatric therapists are highly skilled in caring for medically complex children and work closely with the nursing staff to provide safe, effective therapeutic interventions.
Aveanna Healthcare Can Help Your Family
We understand the challenges that families face when caring for medically fragile children. Pediatric Day Health Care Centers can help bring normalization back to family life by providing a safe, clean, center-based setting for children during the day while the family members attend to other needs. Our nurses and therapists can provide education and training so that families can provide the best clinical care at home. We can help families communicate effectively with health care providers and coordinate better care for the children. Our Day Health Care Centers can also provide transportation for children to and from the center. Our vehicles are staffed with pediatric nurses or paramedics to ensure the safety of the children during transport.
