The In-Home Support Services (IHSS) Program
In the state of Colorado, parents and family members who meet certain eligibility requirements have the opportunity to be compensated for providing care to their loved ones. The In-Home Support Services (IHSS) program gives patients the opportunity to receive care at home, select their own attendants, and direct their own care. Patients can choose a family member or friend to be their IHSS attendant once the IHSS agency determines that individual has the necessary skills.
The following waivers allow for patients to receive the services and benefits of IHSS through Health First Colorado (Medicaid):
- Elderly, Blind & Disabled (EBD)
- Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) – Adults
- Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) – Children
IHSS caregivers can provide the following services:
- Healthcare maintenance programs
- Personal care activities
- Homemaker services
