Michelle's journey to nursing wasn't always a straight path, but her passion for care has proven that she's exactly where she needs to be.
With her caring demeanor and willingness to serve, Michelle always knew that she would thrive in the medical field. After originally wanting to pursue careers in physical therapy and later in respiratory therapy, she eventually settled on nursing and was accepted into a nursing program. However, life's twists and turns pushed her to drop out of the program and pursue another career in the legal system.
"I've always been the person to take care of everyone," said Michelle. "After years of working in the legal field, I felt the undeniable itch to pursue nursing once more."
Michelle began working as an LPN in 2021, juggling the demands of being the only LPN in her local emergency room with her responsibilities of raising three teenagers at home. With more experience came greater confidence for Michelle, and she decided to pursue her RN license in 2023 for career growth opportunities.
While pursuing her year-long bridge program, Michelle began working at Aveanna's office in Macon, Georgia, where she was able to provide one-on-one care to her patients with the added benefit of flexible scheduling to complete her coursework during the week.
"Throughout my bridge program, Aveanna was so supportive. My office team cheered me on and was so willing to help me study for whatever I needed," said Michelle. "I'm so thankful for how they were able to work with my schedule for different things, such as when I needed to go into classes for extra days throughout the program."
Since graduating in May of 2024, Michelle is proud to continue working for Aveanna to provide individual, compassionate, and nurturing care for her patients at home. She looks forward to continuing to grow her skills and make a difference in the lives of those in her community.
"With Aveanna, I'm able to help my patients and their families live happier lives. Each day when I'm in their homes, I'm able to see the brighter side of medical care and use my skills to truly better the lives of others. It's so amazing to have that opportunity."
