Magnolia’s Journey: Thriving with ARFID
Published April 3, 2025

Magnolia stopped eating around one year old.

She began only wanting to drink formula, then switched to milk primarily. By age 3, Magnolia was diagnosed with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). ARFID significantly limits the amounts of foods that she can eat. Her mom, Sheronda, was concerned about her health and development as a growing toddler.

After Magnolia was hospitalized with low blood sugar, Sheronda reached out to the Aveanna Medical Solutions (AMS) team to help her daughter reach her nutritional goals. Registered Dietitian Suzanne and the rest of her Aveanna team helped Magnolia get the nutritional formula she needed to support her developmental journey and put her family's concerns to rest.

"Over the last year, Aveanna has been a true blessing to our family," said Sheronda. "I was crying to Suzanne, and she reassured me that she had my back and would support me and my daughter in this journey. The dedication and excellence the team consistently demonstrates has made a true impact."

Suzanne and the AMS care team worked to source difference formulas for Magnolia, kept her family up to date on shipping timelines, and tweaked products based on her preferences to ensure she received the nutrition she needed. Because Magnolia was starting to attend daycare, it was important that they found a nutritional supplement that she would want to drink before school or during the day if needed. With the help she received from the AMS team, Sheronda could send Magnolia to school knowing her daughter was getting nutrients to learn, grow, and succeed.

"Aveanna's timely deliveries, clear communication, and unwavering commitment to keeping their promises have made a significant difference in our lives," said Sheronda. "It is incredibly reassuring to know that we can rely on them without worry. Every interaction and experience with the Aveanna team has been positive."

Now, Magnolia is thriving and gaining weight. With her Aveanna Medical Solutions team by her side, Sheronda can rest assured that her daughter can reach developmental milestones and live her happiest and healthiest life as a bubbly, energetic toddler.
