Today, we’d like to introduce you to Isaac, who lives with Trisomy 21, also known as Down syndrome.
Isaac turned three on World Down Syndrome Day. While he didn’t get to have a big party this year because of the COVID-19 situation, Isaac’s family still had a small celebration for him with pizza, cake, and ice cream. Self-quarantining isn’t slowing Isaac down one bit! He is such a happy kid and hasn’t stopped smiling.
Isaac was born prematurely, had surgery as a newborn, and still struggles with various health challenges. But he’s hitting a lot of his milestones and growing well. Most importantly, Isaac is happy. He loves his mom, stepdad, siblings, and new puppy. “We just all have a lot of fun all together,” Isaac’s mom, Stephanie, shares.
Isaac brings so much light to everyone he meets. “I didn’t expect that this life would be filled with so much incredible love and joy,” Stephanie admits. “I had cared for others with Down syndrome, and I work with special needs students at the high school. So, I knew what beautiful people they are. But there is something special about being Isaac’s mom.”
Stephanie loves watching Isaac grow and overcome the obstacles in his way. “Isaac has taught me about patience and being happy no matter what the circumstances are,” Stephanie says. “He’s fought some tough battles, but he’s always pulled through with a smile. It’s a blessing to be his mom.”
Like Stephanie, we love watching Isaac grow. We are honored to be part of his care team and can’t wait to see where he goes next!
