How long have you worked in healthcare?
I started my career in healthcare with Aveanna in 2018. We were Pediatric Services of America at the time. I’ve been here for almost five years now. To tell you the truth, I had no idea what home healthcare was prior to my interview. But over the years, I’ve come to love it. The amazing team we have here won me over. Everyone has the same goal. At the end of the day, we’re all here to support our families and advocate for our patients.
What brought you to Aveanna?
After graduating from the University of Northern Colorado, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I had a friend who was working at Aveanna’s Colorado Springs office. He’s now the Executive Director of our Loveland location. He introduced me to the company, I applied, and the rest is history.
What made you stay once you were here?
The team environment, the feeling of being connected to something bigger than myself, and the sense of fulfillment. Every job is important, but what we’re doing here at Aveanna really makes an impact. Not only for myself and how I feel about the work I’m doing, but also for the patients and families we serve. It’s great to see success stories of patients graduating from services. It’s great to hear from families and parents about how much our care means to them.
How have your grown while part of the Aveanna team?
I started as an admin assistant. Shortly after joining the team, I was promoted to the Client Service Supervisor role, then Operations Manager. I was promoted to my current position, Executive Director, about two and a half years ago.
This was my first professional job, and I’ve learned a lot working here. My career at Aveanna has helped mold me into a better person professionally and personally. I take what I’ve learned home with me to my family. Working with our patients and their families has given me a new perspective and made me more compassionate and grateful.
What keeps you going on difficult days?
I’d rather have some difficult days than work a simpler job where I don’t have a sense of fulfillment. Working here is always fun because I enjoy who I work with. We take time to try to lighten things up. Along with that, there is purpose. There’s growth potential. Ultimately, I enjoy what I do. I like the team I work with. We’re connected and all willing to help and support each other. We’re all here for the same goal – to support our patient families. Everyone is all in. That’s a big reason why I like working here.
What does it mean to be part of the Aveanna team?
I feel like I’m part of something bigger than myself. To be a part of such a great organization and doing what we do makes me feel like the work I do is making a difference. I feel honored and blessed to be part of a team like this that allows me to spend my time helping families and caregivers with all aspects of their lives. I’m happy to be a part of it.
What have you found at Aveanna?
I’ve found purpose and fulfillment, being part of something bigger than myself. I’ve found something new at Aveanna – work that I really enjoy. Not many people can say that, and I really mean it. I enjoy the work that I do because I know I’m making an impact on the families we serve. I enjoy coming to work.
