Precious Marshall has a huge heart for his Aveanna caregivers, and so does his mother! Jenifer, Marshall’s mom, is so proud of all of the progress her son has made with the help of Aveanna across multiple service lines including enteral nutrition, medical supplies, and personal care services.
Marshall was only seven months old when he joined the Aveanna family in 2016 after he was diagnosed with DiGeorge syndrome. DiGeorge syndrome is also known as 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, where a small portion of chromosome 22 is missing. According to the Mayo Clinic, “This deletion results in the poor development of several body systems. Medical problems commonly associated with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome include heart defects, poor immune system function, a cleft palate, complications related to low levels of calcium in the blood, and delayed development with behavioral and emotional problems.”
Marshall’s mother is confident that his increasing independence and development are direct results of his Aveanna clinicians working together to achieve Marshall’s milestones. “He's learning to feed himself, walk, and sign, thanks to his attentive and consistent caregiver helping him learn these things each day. There is no way Marshall would be on this level with his cognitive skills today if it wasn't for the one-on-one attention he’s received from his loving caregivers,” praises Jenifer.
Marshall, who has a love for the outdoors, can be frequently found playing at his neighborhood park, riding in his toy car, or swinging in his backyard. He has fun playing with puzzles and has a bright and silly personality. He’s got a warm smile, and his independent spirit is starting to sprout.
Aveanna Healthcare is in awe of Marshall’s successes and we look forward to walking alongside him and his family on his healthcare journey. Keep up the great work, Marshall!
