In celebration of Better Hearing and Speech Month, we are excited to share Lucas and SLP Karly’s story.
Lucas joined the Aveanna family in 2020 and has been an all-star since day one. SLP Karly began working with Lucas a year ago. She’s been amazed at the progress he has made since then.
“When I first started working with Lucas,” Karly shares, “I could tell that he had a lot to say but his speech disorder was standing in the way of getting it out. Since then, Lucas has started using a high-tech AAC device which has immensely supported his functional communication and has also aided in improving his speech skills. Lucas now uses both verbal speech and his AAC device to tell us what he wants and needs independently.
“I am so proud of Lucas for all of his hard work in therapy. It has been an honor to work with him and his incredibly supportive parents. His big smile and personality is such a light to have in the clinic each week. I can't wait to see what his future holds for him!”
